Fremantle indie rock foursome Spacey Jane have cemented their position as one of Australia's most-loved bands.
Their debut album Sunlight, released in June 2020, entered the ARIA chart at No.2. Four tracks would be voted into triple j's Hottest 100 including fan-favourite “Booster Seat” landing at No.2, just behind Glass Animals' "Heat Waves”.
“Booster Seat” would also soar into the ARIA Top 10 singles chart, achieving platinum sales while the band have accumulated over 88 million streams to date. The band - front man Caleb Harper, guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu, bassist Peppa Lane and drummer/manager Kieran Lama - spent the first half of 2021 finally getting to playing sold out COVID safe shows across the East Coast of Australia. "Streaming numbers and chart positions are great, and they're exciting to watch," Caleb says, "but we’re a live band. To engage with fans like that, to see the music having that reach, that means everything." Nalan, früher bekannt als slimgirl fat und Teil des Trios Gaddafi Gals, veröffentlichte ihr erstes Album. Was einst als "The Crying Tape" 2019 begann, formte sich zu "I’m Good. "The Crying Tape". Elf Songs, die während eines Jahres des Lockdowns entstanden sind, teilweise zu Hause in ihrem kleinen Studio in Berlin. In Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Musikern wie Walter P99 Arkestra, Kiara Bo und David Hofmann. Es war ein Jahr voller Zeit, Unsicherheit, Gestaltungsdruck, politischer Veränderungen und neuer Schwerpunkte. Dieses Album ist ihre Zeitmaschine zurück in ihre Teenagerjahre und Träume. "As tears can bring pain, they also bring joy" so die wörtliche Bedeutung ihres Namens Nalan.

Die aktuellen Singles „Romeo Must Die“ und „Bye Bye“ haben es mal wieder bewiesen: Gaddafi Gals treten musikalisch ungern auf der Stelle. Während ihre vielleicht bekanntesten Songs „fila“ und „the death of papi“ zwischen den sphärischen R’n’B-Hooklines und Rap-Parts eine recht roughe, dunkle Angelegenheit waren, scheinen sie ihren Sound nun modifiziert zu haben: Die neuen Singles knistern und wobblen, die Synths sind kristallin kalt, die Stimme dafür umso wärmer, fast so, als hätte man versucht eine Schnittmenge zwischen den experimentierfreudigen Stücken einer FKA twigs mit Aaliyah-Vibes zu vermischen. Aber eigentlich ist es müßig, Gaddafi Gals mit anderen Namen zu vergleichen, denn das in Berlin lebende Kollektiv bringt ihre eigene Geschichte mit. Auch auf diesem Album schafft es Produzent walter p99 arkestra, den Gaddafi Gals Slimgirl Fat und Ebow einen Trademark Sound zu verpassen, der locker auf internationaler Bühne mitmischen kann.

Das ist Musik, die nicht nur die ganz Kleinen begeistert, sondern auch die Großen. Die Kleinen freuen sich über die Inhalte – da gibt es fabelhafte Tiergeschichten (z.B. Flori, Eisbär, Ein Fisch), aufmüpfige Kritik an nervenden Erwachsenen (z.B. Müde, BlaBlaBla) und auch lustige Gedankenspiele darüber, was etwa der Weihnachtsmann den ganzen Rest des Jahres so treibt. Die Großen finden sich in der Musik wieder, die von Ska, Rocksteady und erdigem Reggae bestimmt ist. Da lässt man sich die Dauerschleife im Kinderzimmer gerne gefallen, wenn man ganz nebenbei noch selber was zum Popowackeln hat!
Schon seit ein paar Jahren schreibt Ben Pavlidis, Sänger und Texter der Berliner Band Ohrbooten, zusammen mit seiner kleinen Tochter verschiedenste Kinderlieder. Ihrer kindlichen Fantasie sind viele der Figuren, Themen und Geschichten zu verdanken, die vom Vater direkt in eingängige Songs verwandelt wurden. Sie und noch eine ganze Horde weiterer Kinder sind natürlich auch auf dem Album zu hören. Vervollständigt wurde D!E GÄNG durch das Mitwirken von Ohrbooten, Bummelkasten, Sissi Perlinger und Johnny Strange – letzterer verleiht dem urlaubsreifen Weihnachtsmann seine Stimme. Und auch ein paar radikale Gummibärchen kommen zu Wort, die über die Unterdrückung ihrer bedrohten Art rappen. Da schmunzeln und staunen die Kleinen und Großen abwechselnd beim Hören. Und wenn der Eisbär seine Freunde zum Filmgucken in sein Iglu einlädt oder die Schnecke die Liebe von Flori dem Frosch erwidert, wird´s sogar richtig herzerwärmend schön.
D!E GÄNG ist im Kern generationsübergreifend und die Resonanz bei Live-Konzerten enorm. Kinder und Eltern feiern sich gegenseitig, es wird viel gelacht, getobt und frech drauflosgerappt. Hier begegnen sich alle auf Augenhöhe, und es entsteht ein tiefes Gefühl der Verbundenheit.

Mitsune ist ein 5-köpfiges Weltmusik-Ensemble aus Berlin mit Mitgliedern aus Japan, Deutschland, Australien und Griechenland. Geleitet von einem rein weiblichen Shamisen-
Trio und ergänzt mit einer Rhythmusgruppe aus Percussion und Kontrabass ist Mitsune ein World-Fusion-Erlebnis, das Emotionen, folkloristische Bilder und Grooves hervorruft, die jeden in Bewegung bringen. Das Herz und die Seele von Mitsune ist die Tsugaru-Shamisen, ein unverwechselbares dreisaitiges japanisches Instrument, das einst von den blinden Mönchen des alten Japan bevorzugt wurde. Die Band spielt eine bunte Mischung aus neu interpretierten japanischen Volksliedern und eigenen Kompositionen mit Einflüssen aus dem Nahen Osten, Blues, Jazz, Rock und Filmmusik. Ihre Konzerte sind energiegeladen und mitreißend, bereichert mit Gesang, Shinobue (Bambusflöte), Shimedaiko (Trommel) und einer vielseitigen und stimmigen Rhythmusgruppe, die Bass und treibende Beats liefert.
Seit ihrer Gründung im April 2018 haben Mitsune zahlreiche Auftritte bei kulturellen Veranstaltungen, Festivals und Konzerten in ganz Europa absolviert. Im Jahr 2019 unterstützten sie Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote) in Berlin und traten neben den renommierten traditionellen japanischen Musikern Yoshiyuki Kimura, und Akihiro & Hibiki Ichikawa auf. Sie veröffentlichten 2018 ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum und werden voraussichtlich im Februar 2022 ihr zweites Album Hazama veröffentlichen.
Das japanische Wort Hazama bedeutet „dazwischen“ und beschreibt das Gefühl, in der Schwebe zwischen den Welten zu sein. Mitsune nimmt die Erfahrung des kulturellen Schwebezustands an – das gleichzeitige Gefühl von Verdrängung/Anderssein und angenommener Zugehörigkeit – und verwandelt es in fröhliche Musik.

raumlaborberlin gründete im Frühsommer 2019 mit der Songschreiberin und bedingungslosen Chorleiterin Bernadette La Hengst den Chor der Statistik. Angesprochen werden alle Sing-Interessierten aus Stadtgesellschaft und Nachbarschaft. Der Chor gibt dem Veränderungsprozess um das Haus der Statistik eine zusätzliche Stimme. Gemeinsam singen und schreiben die Teilnehmer*innen utopische Lieder über die Zukunft der Stadt, über Nachbarschaft und den Kiez rund um das HdS. Gleichzeitig handelt es sich um eine künstlerische Form, städtische Problematiken wie Mietpreissteigerung und Verdrängung zu adressieren.
Mittlerweile ist die Größe des Chores auf potentielle 100 Chormitglieder angewachsen. Das Song Repertoire hat sich erweitert, z.B. um Songs zur Klimakrise und Biodiversität, zu Solidarität in Zeiten der Pandemie oder für ein Europa der offenen Grenzen.
Während der letzten zwei Jahre sang der Chor Mittwochs in einem leerstehenden Autoscooter im Innenhof des Haus der Statistik, seit Sommer 2022 im Garten des Otto-Containers an der Otto-Braun-Strasse.
Neben den regelmäßigen Proben hat der Chor immer wieder Auftritte beim Ko-Markt im HdS, auf Demonstrationen, bei Sommerfesten (u.a. Flussbad Berlin oder Koalition der Freien Szene), zum 25jährigen Jubiläums-Spaziergang des Künstlerinnen Duos Bless, bei der Performance stadtflussland 2021 an der Spree, und bei vielen anderen Veranstaltungen, die sich mit der Zukunft der Stadt auseinandersetzen.

Die in London lebende deutsche Geigerin und Sängerin Johanna Burnheart kommt nach Berlin, um ihre Londoner Band mit ihrer einzigartigen Mischung aus Originalkompositionen und elektronischen Arrangements zu präsentieren.
Einen Großteil ihres Lebens hat Johanna in der Berliner Techno & House-Szene verbracht, was weiterhin einen erheblichen Einfluss auf ihre Kompositionen ausübt. Johannas Stil existiert an dem Punkt, an dem sich modaler Jazz und Techno treffen.
Dies ist ein sich ständig weiterentwickelndes Unterfangen, unter anderem da Technologie es immer mehr ermöglicht, den akustischen Klang der Geige mit wenigen Kompromissen elektronisch zum Leben zu erwecken.
Mitten in der Pandemie, am 30. Oktober 2020, veröffentlichte Johanna ihr Debütalbum "Burnheart" mit Ropeadope Records. Neben den positiven Kritiken zB im Jazzwise Magazine, MOJO und Backseatmafia wurde sie vom Guardian zu einer von 30 besten neuen KünstlerInnen für 2021 gewählt. Daraufhin veröffentlichte Johanna Ende 2021 ihre Remix-EP "Burnheart Remixed" mit Remixen von Acid Pauli, Beth Lydi, Nesa Azadikhah und Pilo Adami als Hommage an ihre Liebe zum Techno und wie dies ihr Debütalbum beeinflusst hat.
Das Konzert wird eine Genre-überfliegende Klangreise, jedoch fest in Johannas Einflüssen verankert.

London-based Johanna Burnheart is a German violinist, singer, composer and producer. Much of her life has been spent absorbed in the Berlin sound of the techno & house scene resulting in this certain influence permeating her compositions. Johanna’s work exists at the point where modal jazz and techno meet. This is an ever developing venture as technology allows the acoustic sound of the violin to come alive electronically with few compromises.
Since forming her own band end of 2018, Johanna released her debut album simply called “Burnheart” with Ropeadope Records on October 30th 2020. Besides the positive reviews in Jazzwise Magazine,MOJO and Backseatmafia among others, Johanna was chosen as one of 30 best new artists for 2021 by the Guardian. In 2021 she released a remix EP called “Burnheart Remixed” with remixes from Acid Pauli, Beth Lydi, Nesa Azadikhah and Pilo Adami as an homage to her love for techno and how it influenced her debut record.
Johanna is coming home to showcase her London band on this special occasion with her unique blend of original compositions and electronic arrangements.
